What clear aligners do

Clear-aligner treatment uses a sequence of removable appliances to move teeth over time. The appropriate approach depends on the alignment of your teeth, bite, gum health and treatment goals. Not every case is suitable for Invisalign, and other options or referral may be recommended.

Why consider removable clear aligners?

Clear aligners are less conspicuous than fixed metal braces and can be removed for meals and cleaning. Treatment aims to improve tooth alignment and, where appropriate, aspects of the bite. Removability also means consistent wear is essential. Braces, other appliances, referral or no treatment may be better options for some people.

What would you like to change?

Tell Sara what you notice about the position of your teeth or your bite. Crowding, gaps and bite concerns need an individual assessment. A treatment name alone does not establish suitability, and a general dentist may recommend another approach or an orthodontic referral.

A digital plan is a planning tool

Where appropriate, records may be used to prepare a digital treatment plan. A simulation helps explain proposed tooth movement; it is not a guarantee of the final result. Ask about the limits of treatment, any additional procedures, review visits and possible refinements.

Retainers and care afterwards

Teeth can move after active treatment. Your dentist will explain the proposed retention plan and ongoing reviews. Ask whether retainers, replacements, refinements and follow-up are included in the quotation. Risks can include discomfort, gum problems, tooth decay and changes that do not fully match the plan.

A plan you can understand

Your consultation will consider your dental and medical history and the records needed for planning. Before committing, discuss expected changes, limitations, the likely schedule, review visits, costs and what happens if additional treatment is needed.

Your part in treatment

Aligners need to be worn and cared for as directed by your treating dentist. Oral hygiene, attendance at reviews and retention afterwards matter. Treatment length and results vary; no timeline or outcome can be guaranteed.

Everyday care during treatment

Follow the wear and cleaning instructions supplied with your plan. Brush and floss regularly and keep review appointments. Tell your dentist if an aligner is lost, damaged or no longer fits as expected; do not change the sequence without advice. New trays can feel tight, and persistent pain or gum problems need a review.

Invisalign costs and what your quote includes

Check the treatment scope, reviews, refinements and retainers when comparing Invisalign quotes. Our dedicated cost guide explains the inclusions and possible separate charges to discuss before you decide.

Invisalign or braces for crowded teeth and gaps?

Crowded teeth, gaps and bite concerns are reasons to seek an assessment, rather than proof that one appliance is right for you. Compare removable clear aligners with fixed braces, the wear commitment and the movements being proposed. Sara can explain the options and whether assessment by a specialist orthodontist is appropriate. Fixed-brace treatment is not advertised as a confirmed service here.

Treatment recommendations depend on an individual assessment.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

Your questions, answered.

Can adults have clear-aligner treatment?

Adults may be suitable, but suitability is determined through a dental assessment rather than age alone.

How long will Invisalign take?

The schedule depends on the proposed movements, your oral health, aligner wear and how treatment progresses. Sara needs to assess you before discussing an estimated duration.

Will I need retainers?

Retention is generally part of maintaining tooth alignment after treatment. Your dentist will explain the type, wear instructions, replacement arrangements and review schedule appropriate to your plan.
